Milestones

I presented my prospectus last Friday!  It was a huge milestone in my career as a graduate student, and the last hoop I had to jump through before writing and defending my dissertation.  The prospectus was the biggest thing I have ever accomplished as a student.  Once you get your prospectus approved you are officially considered a candidate for the PhD (!!!)  Also, as long as you accomplish everything that you propose in your prospectus it is assumed that your dissertation will be approved.  Things are getting a little easier for me to handle now that I can see a light at the end of this very long tunnel...

In other news, Jeff missed his flight to his San Diego interview this past Sunday.  After several attempts at catching a later flight and me driving him back and forth to the airport he wasn't able to get on another flight.  Oh well, I guess some things just aren't meant to be.

I'm disappointed we won't be able to include San Diego in the list of possible places to do a fellowship, but I really enjoyed getting to spend time with Jeff Sunday night.  He's been living in Baton Rouge since the beginning of January for a rotation and we don't get to see each other very often.  I can't wait for him to be home and for life to get back to normal- just 1 more month!

Jeff and I missed each other most of this past weekend because I was in Biloxi for a friend's Bachelorette Party!  My friend Ashleigh and I have known each other since we were 3 years old and I'm honored to be a bridesmaid in her wedding next month.  She stood by me at mine so it's really cool that now the tables are turned.  We spent 2 nights staying at the IP casino and getting into just a little trouble...  Needless to say I'm still recovering.

We somehow got a free limo ride home one night.  Here I am with the bride in the limo with a few of the other girls that came to the party:

And here's the bride with a list of tasks she had to perform one night:

This Thursday and Friday Jeff will be interviewing in Aspen!  It's his last fellowship interview (!) and I couldn't be happier that they will be over soon.  I like hearing about all the different places, but it's not fun adding up all the money it's costing us for him to interview.  Then it will be time to start making a rank list to turn in at the end of March.  Crazy.  At this point, I don't even care where he matches.  Just another huge milestone we are almost able to check off the list!

He'll fly back late Friday night just in time to go to Lucas and Ashley's wedding on Saturday.  I can't wait to celebrate with wonderful friends this weekend!
