Today I'm officially 38 weeks pregnant and Luke will be here in a matter of weeks! People look at me like I'm going to go into labor at any moment. I'll be glad to stop getting stares in the grocery store after he comes. Don't worry people, I'm not going to pop this baby out on your floor! Geez.
I guess I've been doing what everyone calls "nesting." I get super anxious about things left on my to-do list until they're checked off. Baby clothes are washed, freezer meals prepared, house semi-organized. But just when I think progress is being made, a surprise happens that sets me back. Take a look at this:
We were having an alarm system installed last week and the guy threading wires in our attic stepped his foot through my kitchen ceiling. My FRESHLY painted ceiling. So right now I'm sitting on the couch while a painter hopefully finishes repairing what they screwed up (on the alarm company's dime, obviously). Oh, and did I mention we had to replace all the A/C ductwork in our attic a week after we moved in because it was leaking through our dining room ceiling (also freshly painted)? And just for funsies, we got a letter in the mail a couple weeks ago from our homeowner's insurance company saying our policy was cancelled due to tree limbs overhanging our roof. Seriously? Our rep at the company straightened everything out, but I was thisclose to going hormonal-pregnant-lady-crazy on them. Also, I get to deal with all of this on my own as Jeff is super busy getting settled into the new attending job. I wouldn't trade staying home for going back to that terrible job I hated for anything, but things have definitely not been as "restful" as I had anticipated.
Home ownership! Two steps forward, one step back. Fingers crossed that there will be no more fun surprises before Luke comes!
